Scoring a round

How do I start and score a round?

From the scorecard tab, choose 9 Holes or 18 Holes, then use the −1, +1 and +2 buttons on each hole to set your strokes. The running total updates at the top as you go.

When you've finished, tap the save (tick) button to store the round in your history.

How do I change a hole's par?

Tap the Par X chip on any hole row and pick the correct par. Your totals and vs-par figures update automatically.

What are swing tags and how do I add them?

Tags describe what actually happened on a hole — things like pure contact, pulled left or chicken wing. Tap the chat icon on a hole row to add tags or a note.

Tags aren't just a diary: each one links to a short coaching clip in the Profile tab, so you can watch the fix for the exact fault you tagged.

Can I edit or delete a saved round?

Open the History tab, find the round, and use the options there to review or remove it. Deleting a round is permanent.

Coaching videos

A coaching video won't play — what can I do?

Coaching clips stream from YouTube, so you'll need an internet connection to watch them. If a clip fails to load in the app, use the Open in YouTube option to watch it in the YouTube app or your browser instead.

Data & privacy

Where is my data stored? Do I need an account?

No account needed — ParTrek doesn't have one. Your rounds, practice sessions and profile stats are stored on your device and nowhere else. Nothing is uploaded to a server.

Will I lose my data if I update the app?

No. Updating ParTrek from the App Store keeps all of your saved rounds and practice history in place.

Deleting the app, however, removes its data from your device. If you think you might reinstall later, export a backup first — see "How do I back up my rounds as a file?" below. Note that photos stay on your device and are not included in the export, so those cannot be recovered after deletion.

How do I back up my rounds as a file?

Open the Profile tab and scroll to the Data Management section. Tap Export JSON — ParTrek will package your rounds and practice sessions into a JSON file and share it via the standard iOS sheet.

Save it to Files, iCloud Drive, or your Mac — it's a plain text file you can open anywhere. Keep it somewhere safe and you'll always have your golf history, whatever happens to the app.

Note: photos stay on your device and are not included in the export file.

How do I restore my data from a backup?

Open the Profile tab, scroll to Data Management, and tap Import JSON. Pick the file you exported earlier and ParTrek will bring everything back.

This works after a reinstall, on a new iPhone, or any time you need to recover your history. Photos aren't included in the file, so those would need to be added again separately.

How do I delete my data?

You can clear your saved data from within the app in the Profile tab, or remove everything at once by deleting the app from your device.

Anything else

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Email corneil@efoma8consulting.co.uk with as much detail as you can — what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. Screenshots help a lot.

Which devices does ParTrek support?

ParTrek is built for iPhone and is available on the App Store in most countries. An iPad-optimised layout may come later.
